Further Environmental Information Available ** UPDATED 02.02.2012 ** : 2nd Feb 2012

Wind Prospect has submitted Further Environmental Information for the King's Street Wind Farm, to be decided at a Public Inquiry in February this year. This information can be viewed at the South Staffordshire Council offices during working hours or via the links below.

Based on this information South Staffs DC have confirmed that they will no longer defend reason for refusal number 6, relating to the impact of the development protected species and the Mottey Meadows wildlife site (SSSI and SAC). Natural England also withdrew their objection on 16th December 2011, subject to an ecological enhancement plan being agreed. This letter can be viewed at figure 1.9 of the Main Text document below.

Facts and figures changes explained : 17th Dec 2010

Updated: 17/12/2010 - The figure for Carbon Dioxide saved per year has now been amended to match more recent government documents.  Further information can be found within the King's Street Environmental Statement which is now a public document.

Update: 30/03/2010 - Aplogies for any confusion caused, but due to some of the website coding the capacity factor was displayed for 3 days as 28.00%  It has now been corrected back to 27,5%.  Thanks to those who pointed it out.

There have been a few adjustments to the facts and figures on the website and these are explained below.  Thank you to those who assisted by pointing out any discrepancies.

CO2 range

This was changed from a range (10,501 – 25,260) to a static figure (12,656) due to guidance from the BWEA that this is now the preferred way of stating CO2 offset (all figures in tonnes of CO2 per annum).

Capacity factor

The capacity factor has always been estimated at 27.5%, but it was initially displayed as 27% due to rounding, but once the above change was implemented, this figure was rounded up to 28% due to different website code being used.  This has now been altered to show the capacity factor correctly as 27.5%.

The same problem caused some minor fluctuations in the total yield, C02 and households supplied, but the correct figures are now displayed.

Households supplied

This was updated in December to a more accurate and up to date figure calculated from the the Digest of UK Energy Statistics 2009.  The figure per household was calculated by dividing the total GB domestic sales (117,126GWh) by the number of domestic customers (26,670,000) to give a figure of 4.39MWh per household.  For the King’s Street proposal this would result in an estimated equivalent of 6,585 households’ electricity being supplied by the wind farm.

The previous figure that we used was 4.7MWh

Access Route Update : 20th Nov 2009

We had been planning to transport equipment along the what's commonly referred to as the straight mile (the long straight section of road to the South of the site) during construction of the wind farm . A study has shown that more work to the road may be needed to enable this to happen and members of the community also expressed some concerns about the use of this road during the public consultation.

As a result, we are looking at other ways of getting the turbine equipment to the site and will keep the website updated with the latest plans. We aim to submit the planning application early next year once this work is finished. All the other independent studies such as the noise and landscape assessments are now complete.

If you have further questions about access or construction, you can find out more in the construction section.

A word from the Trustees of Weston Estate : 9th Oct 2009

The Trustees of Weston Park Estate have been asked to summarise the thinking that has led to their agreeing to having the proposed wind farm on their land.

Please read the attached PDF for their response.
